Context & Purpose

The role of the Social Inclusion & Community SPC is to assist the Council in the formulation, development and review of policies relating to Social Inclusion and Community. As such the SPC system allows members to prepare the groundwork for policies which will then be decided on by Cork County Council. The Social Inclusion & Community SPC meets 4 times per year and comprises 21 committee members.

Membership

The 21 members of the Social Inclusion & Community SPC include 13 Elected Representatives, 2 Sectoral Representatives and 6 PPN elected reps supported by Cork County Council’s Local Community Development Unit staff. The PPN-elected reps currently sitting on the Social Inclusion & Community SPC are: Therese Barrett-Bourke, Patrick Dooley, Diarmuid Cronin, Gavin Falk, Helen Barrett, & Usanga Iniobong.

The Social Inclusion & Community Linkage Group

The linkage group consists of members of Cork County PPN who have a specific interest in Social Inclusion & Community issues in County Cork and wish to be kept informed of the work of the SPC. The 6 PPN elected reps listed above facilitate meetings of the Linkage Group to ensure that linkage group members are kept informed and have the opportunity to have their voices heard.
