WHAT IS THE PPN?

Cork County PPN is a network of Community & Voluntary, Social Inclusion and Environment organisations that was established in 2015.  As an information and knowledge sharing network there are measures in place that ensure that these organisations are kept informed of important information such as:

  • Funding opportunities
  • Public consultations
  • Plan-making
  • Policy development

Membership of the PPN also ensures that these organisations and their representatives can interact with the policy-making committees of Cork County Council and have their voice heard.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Since 2015 around 900 organisations have registered with Cork County PPN. These organisations nominated 22 individuals to act as a steering group called a Secretariat. The 22-member secretariat oversees the administration of the PPN. For example, the Secretariat has helped to develop the PPN website www.corkcountyppn.com and other communication tools as a means of improving communication between PPN member organisations and between the PPN and the general public.

The member organisations also elected 37 representatives to sit on the policy-making committees of Cork County Council so that the PPN can help to shape policy at a local level.

WHAT CAN IT DO?

By registering with Cork County PPN your organisation will be better informed about funding opportunities, public consultations, plan-making and local policy development. In 2017 Linkage Groups will be fully developed to facilitate greater co-operation and information-sharing between organisations with similar interests as well as giving organisations the opportunity to shape policy at a local level.
